– A RUIN –
By Zohaib Shahid Butt
Red horizon filled with smoke and decay. The sea was rising on this day. As the waves crashed ripping away benches on the side of a bay. Global warming was at its peak! The sun felt hotter every year. Innocents filled with fear! Winter became shorter every year. Natural gasses now filled the atmosphere! Nothing was good here! Such times to be living in! Ironically, as bad and obvious as it may sound, no one knew much. Some even denied it. Some didn’t even believe such was occurring! People lived in ignorance.
You could find a thin brick-like object that would emit light from its front. These objects were everywhere! They seem to come in multiple colors. Some were black, some were gold, some were pink, some were white and other came in different shades of black. Everyone was looking at one. Looking at what? What could they be seeing? These were bricks that had the capacity to carry Alexander’s entire library just in one hand! All of the knowledge mankind ever knew was in here!
With that being said, one may think these were great bricks! would they not make mankind smarter and more intelligent? No! they did the opposite! You may ask how possibly? People started using them for the wrong things. Just like a knife, there are more then one uses. People used them to destroy others privacy. People used them to ruin lives. People used them to get closer to people on the other side of the world while distancing them selfs from their own families.
With these devices, people learned an odd way of satisfaction. A way in which they would risk a part of their brains to shrink from such lust. You read that right. Here there was no love between two couples, there was only lust. The love of these people was for what destroyed their relationships. People would play with their genitals as if they were toys. There were laws to make women equal, but no one treated them equal. Because of this, rape and assault would increase. Man would literally hunt for women. And many would become targets. But who was there to say? Who was there to condemn? No one would care.
Not only did these things allow people to become sheep, They ended whatever there was to privacy. Privacy slowly started to fade away. The government goes to the extent to even contain a full body, nude profiles of citizens in records. Nothing of privacy possibly existed now. The government would know about what the people write, read, see and even say. The government already knows more about these people than their parents. And from these tablets or bricks, you are able to talk to someone across the world. Pretty cool, eh? Not so cool when you would realize that the government of these people would keep a record of everything the people say. There were no secrets in this world.
It may be obvious to someone reading this that such a world, should the people not rebel like they have in our world? Should they not fight for freedom. The people in this such world are made to believe they have freedom. Freedom is an illusion. The people won’t realize that there bring oppressed. The rich get richer and the poor get even poorer. The poor just try to survive. The rich won’t get full. There constantly hungry. They live in an economic dictatorship.
In this world, there is a vast amount of people locked up for a small act of evil. But the people that would not get locked are at the higher levels of society. The people at the higher levels have committed so much evil, that if you were to bring together all the evil of the people, it still would not outweigh the evil committed by this small group. The people here work hard for an unimaginable amount of hours. Such people, one would think to own the world’s most luxurious luxury. No, they struggle to just put food on the table. And those that work far less then them, they own multiple houses, larger than hotels. They even own hotels.
You may already be enough raged at just the idea of such a world, but it gets worse. As obvious as it may seem, people that would know still would not care. In this world there was not much individuality. People that would have ideas far more moral or different form society would be hated on and threatened to be physically abused. In this world there is such set of rules. The people would argue that these rules make them free, but forgot that the government could simply ignore them. It was the people’s job to make sure the government would follow them as well. But people stoped caring.
